c.1711
Chart by Samuel Thornton who published his pilot, Oriental Navigation, in 1703, in which he describes the passage through Old Strait clearly and calls it "Old Streights of Sincapura". The "Old Strait of Singapore" ran between the Singapore Island and Sentosa to the Keppel Harbour area. On this map, the "Old Streights of Sincapura" is marked on the Singapore Island itself.
