International Film Festival
285 pgs -- File contains invitations from various film committees to participate in their film festivals. These film festivals included the Berlin International Film Festival (Germany), the Locarno International Film Festival (Switzerland), the Cambodian International Film Festival (Phnom Penh), the International Film Festival organised by USSR Committee for Cinema & the Association of Soviet Film Makers (Moscow), the International Film Festival for Young People organised by the Federation of Canadian Amateur Cinematographers, and the International Labour Film Festival organised by the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (held in Tel Aviv). A significant portion of the file comprised (a) invitations and entry regulations from festival organisers over the years (b) correspondence between Ministry of Culture (MC) and various festival organisers; private film organisations Shaw Brothers and Cathay; the Department of Broadcasting (for documentaries) on possible film submissions; and (c) internal MC memos on the subject. Most of the time, there would be no submissions from Singapore, the main reason given being a “lack of suitable films”.
