86 pgs - Contents on organising a proposed international exposition which was eventually shelved. The Orient Year Committee had recommended that Ministry of Culture (MC) spearhead an International Exposition (in Dec 1961), to position Singapore as a centre for international trade. MC explored the feasibility of organising an international trade fair, at the Kallang Park site. It was even proposed that the scope could be widened to organise the exposition as a joint effort among the proposed Malaysia territories (ie Malaya, Sarawak. N Borneo and Brunei), in 1963. However, the proposal was dropped, as ECAFE would be holding some “big function” in Singapore around that time.
