Mobile Libraries - Children
Contains schedules of the mobile library's visits to schools, a 17-page list of English schools in Singapore in 1959 (enrolment figures, number of classes and classrooms, principals' names), scheduling of mobile library visits to schools, lists of Government English Primary Schools (1959), Aided English Full Schools (1959), schools visited by mobile library (Feb 1962), and books selected for mobile library visit.
Correspondence with/from external parties include:
- memoranda on the visits of the mobile library, and from Khoo Joo Chuan, Ag Director NL to Director of Education seeking to address the problem of students not returning books borrowed from mobile library.
- memo from Chan Chieu Kim, Principal Assistant Secretary for Director of Education to school principals on measures to address the problem
- memo from JR Cole, Director NL to PS (Min Culture) regarding a temporary curtailment of mobile library visits due to lack of manpower arising from unfilled vacancies for library officers
- a mobile librarian, Vincent Yap, is named in an apology letter as responsible for not deleting an irrelevant paragraph from a memo that was sent to a school. The school accepted the National Library's explanation.
- a letter from a school girl (letter did not indicate addressee) enquiring how she can become a member of the mobile library.
