Industrial Relations Ordinance Proposed Amendment of:
This file contains correspondence and discussion relating to proposed amendments to the Industrial Relations Act, 1960.  The Minister for Law explains in his second reading of the Industrial Relations (Amendment) Bill in 1962 that the main purpose of the bill was to enable the setting up of a second Industrial Arbitration Court (IAC) to deal with the increasing work.  The (first) IAC which was set up in 1960, had operated for more than a year, and was faced with the challenges of a heavy work burden and desire to speed up proceedings.  Other proposed amendments in the bill include prohibiting challenge of the IAC's award or decision (including decisions by the IAC President or referee) by any court, and restricting the participation of advocates and solicitors in negotiations on industrial matters..
