老赛桃源 (Lao Sai Tao Yuan or Lau Sai Thor Guan in Teochew) is Singapore’s oldest remaining opera troupe. By the time this record was produced in the 1920s, the troupe had already been performing locally for several decades!
The recording featured here tells the famous Chinese folktale of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl.
