  • Synopsis :

    This selection of Music from Singapore in the 1990/1991 ASEAN Exchange of Radio Programmes features two English songs, 'Firefly' and 'The Long Goodbye' by well-known Singaporean singer and song writer Dick Lee. Also included is a Malay song called 'Bunga Melor' which is about the jasmine flower that is closely associated with Malay culture. These flowers are commonly used in weddings for decorative purposes. The Singapore Broadcasting Corporation Chinese Orchestra plays two pieces. The first is called 'Autumn Moon Over the Han Palace'. It first appeared in a classical music manuscript composed in 1916 and depicts the dissatisfaction of women in the ancient palace. The other piece features a soloist on an instrument called the suona and is entitled 'A Spray of Flowers'. Also included is a Tamil song 'Lets Bow and Praise Singapore'.
