Synopsis :Two segments covered in this programme:
1. Saddam In Kuwait: The Showdown Approaches - the Moroccan effort to mediate in the Gulf crisis is but the latest measure to get Iraq's President Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait. With Iraqi forces still entrenched there after 16 weeks, President Saddam Hussein stubbornly refuses to bulge, while the multi-national forces continue to swell. This segment discusses the prospects of a war, in the light of the United Nations sanctions and diplomatic moves showing no result.
2. AIDS: Spreading Into The Mainstream - it has been five years since the first case of HIV infection was detected in Singapore. There are 57 Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome/Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome ( AIDS) patients here today. The number may be small, but doctors predict that a second wave of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection will hit Singapore, predominantly affecting heterosexuals. This segment looks at the issue and examines how an Asian society like Singapore copes with AIDS.
