Synopsis :1. The historical background of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western Medicine (WM) are introduced. Also, their practices, medicines and effectiveness are briefly compared.
2. While many countries show great interest in TCM, more than 30 countries, including Japan, England, France, Germany and the United States, have carried out research on TCM. Some research activities and findings are reported. Meanwhile, much of the scientific research on TCM have focused on acupuncture. Finally, the trend and future relationship between TCM and WM are briefly discussed.
