Synopsis :Minister for Foreign Affairs S Rajaratnam talks about 'South-East Asia after Vietnam', examining the lessons the region learns from the Vietnam War and how prepared the region is 'to cope with the new situation' after America's withdrawal.
He believes most important to South-East Asia is the question of security and this depends on the countries' 'internal political strength' and 'avoidance of intra-regional rivalries and conflicts'. Following his speech, Minister takes questions from the correspondents.
The question-and-answer session continues on next tape.
