  • Synopsis :

    The High Commissioner to the Federation of Malaya General Sir Gerald Templar's farewell broadcast to the people of Malaya is broadcast on the eve of his departure from Kuala Lumpur. He says the 'lives and well-being of the men and women are important' and warns of the dangers and threats to them from 'hasty and irresponsible political actions'. He stresses the only 'hope for the future of this country lies in the gradual formation of a truly united Malayan nation'. He also has a word to say about the British in Malaya and the many people from various walks of life who have come forward to volunteer their services. He ends with saying a few words of farewell in Malay.
