  • Synopsis :

    This is a report of the installation ceremony of the Yang di-Pertuan Negara Inche Yusof bin Ishak. In his speech, Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew states that with the departure of the High Commissioner Sir William Goode, Inche Yusof bin Ishak will represent the embodiment of the nation's spirit. He also briefly explains the role of the Yang di-Pertuan Negara. Inche Yusof bin Ishak himself then speaks about how the government must lead the nation into a new era of peace, progress and prosperity. A detailed commentary of the events by the reporter is included here. The State Anthem was sung towards the end of the ceremony.
