Synopsis :Showcases Deepavali celebration in 1985; brightly-lit streets in Serangoon Road; crowds of people on the streets; official opening of the lighting up ceremony in Little India attended by Mr Othman Wok, board member of Singapore Tourist Promotion Board (STPB).
There are other STPB officials and members of the Indian community; Indian dance item; colourful, decorated shops; exposition; preparations for the festival - new cloths, flowers, sweetmeats; symbolism and story behind Deepavali; rites and ceremony - oil-bath, receiving blessings from elders, supplication at the altar; worshippers at Hindu temple.
