  • Synopsis :

    This is a recording of a speech, in Mandarin and English, delivered by Education Minister Ong Pang Boon for the opening of a seminar on "Philosophy and Objectives of Science Education in the '70s" organised by the Science Teachers' Association of Singapore.

    Mr Ong's speech focuses on the new project to revise the science curriculum in schools and to integrate it with the teaching of English as a Second Language. He also touches on:
    - The support provided by the Science Teachers' Association to the Ministry of Education (MOE);
    - The new project to be launched by MOE;
    - The decision to teach Mathematics and Science in all schools where English is studied as a Second Language;
    - Production of teaching materials;
    - The area in which Science education can play a major role in the '70s i.e. environmental control.
