At the 12th Annual Dinner and Ball of the Australian Alumni held on 11 March, Minister of Defence Dr Goh Keng Swee, says the English-educated elite are unsure of their position in society. They also do not understand their society in all its complexities. This, he says, is the main reason for the low level of dissenting voices in Singapore. Dr Goh urges the intelligentsia to reach out to their society by joining grassroots bodies.
