  • Synopsis :

    1. Britain's Secretary of State for Defence gives introductory statement to press on purpose of his visit to Singapore - to see British forces on field in area, discuss with advisers matter related to Bangok Understanding between Malaysia and Indonesia and meet political leaders in area.  2. Questions press put to him are focused on Britain wanting to reduce forces in area; other topics asked include Britain's SEATO commitment, Britain providing assistance in Britain, bombing in Hanoi, defence of Indian Ocean and future of Gurkha troops.
