  • Synopsis :

In this press conference, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the newly formed Singapore Institute of Management (SIM)  announces that the SIM is a non-profit organisation established by the government  and the Economic Development Board to develop managers. SIM's Director notes that planned management development is vital to Malaysia's economic expansion. The quality of managers will have an impact on progress in indusry and business. There is a need for at least 3000 well-trained managers in the industrial sector alone. They include existing and aspiring managers. SIM will conduct a residential advanced management training course at the University of Singapore and a quality control course in Chinese in early 1965. It will also train managers of small businesses in all apects of management and will need the support of the business community to become a first class institution. SIM has approached the Ford Foundation for assistance in securing experts from well established management schools to organise courses. Although based in Singapore, its operations will be pan-Malaysian.
