  • Synopsis :

At a luncheon given by the Singapore Tourist Association (STA), the Minister for Finance, Dr Goh Keng Swee, says the  Singapore Tourist Promotion Board (STPB) is set up formally in early January 1964. He points out the government has accepted as 'a conscious policy' tourism promotion for 'the first time in Singapore's history'.

He outlines two roles of the STPB and seeks cooperation with STA. He also stresses the need to produce local souvenirs, which has been much neglected in the past. Equally important, he adds is the 'creation of a good public image of Singapore in the world of international tourism'.  Speaking before Dr Goh and for the STA, Dato Loke Wan Tho, touches on the Association. He introduces its board members and Dr Goh.
