Synopsis :Recording is a continuation of Minister for Culture S Rajaratnam's talk on ''Malaysia And The Changing Pattern Of World Politics' held at the Political Study Centre.
Here Minister looks at the reasons for the people of Malaysia's 'disinterest in the world outside' before and even after independence. He talks about Malaysia setting up contacts with selected Asian and African countries to win them over to its side to ensure its survival. He stresses Malaysia need to convince itself to 'play the game of international chess', and must 'learn fast to understand and manipulate international forces to our national advantage'.
He then talks what he believes are the main features of 'the pattern of international forces' in the region. Two forces that concern immediately Malaysia are Indonesia's policy and international communism driven by the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) towards Malaysia. Both Indonesia and the Communists have the same 'proclaimed objective of crushing Malaysia' and neither is going to abandon this objective.
