  • Synopsis :

The Prime Minister of the Federation of Malaya, Tunku Abdul Rahman, had just returned to Kuala Lumpur at the time of this recording. His trip to Great Britain to propose his plans for the formation of the Federation of Malaysia was successful. This recording described the ceremony held at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to welcome his glorious return. Singaporean and Malayan ministers including Malayan Deputy Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak were among the distinguished guests present. A Malay speech by an Alliance Party leader welcomed the Tunku's homecoming. The Tunku affirmed his belief that the imminent fall of colonialism would ultimately lead to the formation of Malaysia and the independence of Singapore, Sarawak and Sabah.
