The UN Security Council unanimously recommended the prompt admission of the Federation of Malaya to membership in the UN. Before the vote, the Council heard brief speeches from representatives of 10 countries. They came from: 1. The United Kingdom 2. Australia 3. United States 4. China 5. France 6. Iraq 7. Sweden 8. The Philippines 9. The Soviet Union 10. Columbia.

With the Council's blessings, Malaya's application would go to the UN General Assembly where final action would be taken.
