Synopsis :

This 'Friday Background' programme focuses on performing arts. It looks at the arts scene in the Philippines and shares how the Philippines encourage singing and dancing.

The programme also features the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, which performed at the National Stadium in celebration of the 25 years of nation building. One of the presenter talks to Zubin Mehta, Music Director and Conductor of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. He talks about the orchestra scene around the world, and the qualities of a good conductor.

The programme ends with excerpts of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra rendition of the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky.
