Synopsis :

The 16mm film on 'Relief Work in Flooded Farm Areas' is a packaged production with commentary. It features aids given out by the Primary Production Department to farms in the Potong Pasir and Changi/Bedok areas which are flooded owing to heavy rainfall on the last two days of February 1964. Details of the footages are as follows:
1) Everything looks good:  fine weather with blue sky, bridge over stretch of water, plants, bananas, papaya green and healthy, trees with branches swaying very much;
2) Raining: rain dropping on coconut leaves; water filling up pails and tubs; water rushing down narrow drain; large areas covered with water;
3) Flooded areas: land submerged under water; vegetable plots - partially covered with water; houses - ground floor under water; attap huts damaged; road - under water, people walking and legs are not seen; children - playing in water, some with car wheels;
4) Boys using traps catching fish from river;
5) Stretches of water;
6) After rainfall: rows of vegetable plots - plants damaged;
7) Building of Agricultural Production and Marketing Cooperative Society Limited: external view, front view; people queuing outside building;  inside building - officers sitting at table with documents (not able to see much as film is rather dark);
8) Unloading small machinery from lorry - hand-held for turning earth;
9) Officers visiting farm lands damaged: talking to women; walking with farmer round vegetable plots; walking down bridge and narrow track; examining inside of house;
10) People queuing for aids;
11) Lorries unloading sacks; some stack up in open by side of building;
12) Inside building: four officials attending to farmers; another table giving out small bottles and small packets, a woman thumb-print on document;
13) Outside building: more officials; women thumb-print on documents, women and others collecting sacks using hadcart or bicycle, some with children to help;
14) Changi area: men emptying contents of sacks on ground; people queueing up; offcials working outside building, pavement section still
under roof; after paperwork done, men/women collecting  materials on ground, scooped into paper sacks;
15) Ministry of National Development building: external view, main entrance with signboard;
16) Potong Pasir area: crane dredging at river,  scooping earth from river bed (background is dark); front view of bridge and beside it another bridge of plank half completed;
17) Long shot of river.
