  • Synopsis :

    Ballet, Chinese and Indian dance teachers recounting how their interest in dance started; ballet teacher conducting lesson and training for her art; Indian dance teacher conducting a lesson for children, preparing for a performance and performing a dance; Chinese dance, dancers preparing backstage; Francis Yeoh from National Theatre Dance Company speaking on Singapore dances from various races. The dancers learn from civic organisations, temples and individual teachers. There is no formal/systematic dance school here. Most importantly, the ability to perservere and create the dance style and performance. This take time and practice; Francis Yeoh from National Theatre Dance Company choreographing a Malay dance; a Malay dance performance; a Malay wedding ceremony; an Indian dance performance and religious rites; a Chinese dance rehearsal; Chinese dance teacher choreographing a sword dance; ballet teacher practising a Chinese dance; Indian dance teacher choreographing a dance from a Hindu epic; Goodwill Mission by National Dance and Theatre Company in Indonesia (1974); historical monuments and agricultural industry in Indonesia; various dance performances.
